Fall 2026 Newsletter

❤️ Welcome from Moreland Animal Hospital

Hello, Moreland Animal Hospital Family!

Fall is here, and we are looking forward to cooler temperatures, changing leaves, and a wonderful new season with our clients and patients.

It has been a busy few months at Moreland Animal Hospital. From celebrating our amazing clients to introducing new wellness opportunities and making major technology upgrades behind the scenes, there is a lot happening at MAH.

Through all these changes, one thing remains the same: our commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to you and your pets.

A BIG Change Is Coming to Moreland!

We’re Updating Our Practice Management System

Moreland Animal Hospital is transitioning to a new Practice Information Management System (PIMS) that will help our team
work more efficiently and improve how we manage your pet’s medical information.

One of the biggest changes this transition brings is our move from traditional paper medical charts toward digital, paperless medical records. Instead of relying on a physical chart to follow your pet throughout the hospital, our team will have important medical information available digitally. This will help streamline communication, improve organization, and allow our team to access your pet’s medical history more efficiently.

As with any major technology transition, there may be a learning curve while our team becomes familiar with the new system. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this important upgrade.

Our goal is simple: less time managing paperwork and more time focused on you and your pet.

Wellness Wednesdays Are Here!

Preventative care plays an important role in helping pets live longer, healthier lives. That’s why we introduced Wellness Wednesdays at Moreland Animal Hospital!

Wednesdays are specifically for healthy pets who are due for routine preventative care. Services may include:

  • Wellness examinations
  • Core vaccinations
  • Heartworm testing
  • Routine fecal / intestinal parasite testing
  • Year-round parasite prevention discussions

Please note: If your pet is sick, injured, experiencing a new medical concern, or needs evaluation for an ongoing problem, let our team know when scheduling. Sick visits are scheduled differently so we can reserve the appropriate appointment type and time for your pet’s medical needs.

Wellness Wednesdays are available on Wednesdays by appointment only, with limited availability.

Cooler Weather Does NOT Mean the Parasites Are Gone!

We may be ready to say goodbye to Georgia’s summer heat, but cooler temperatures do not mean it’s time to stop your pet’s preventatives. Fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites, and heartworm disease remain a concern throughout the year.

Prevention Options for Dogs

  • Simparica – Monthly flea and tick prevention
  • Simparica Trio – Monthly heartworm disease, flea, and tick prevention
  • ProHeart 12 – Injectable heartworm prevention that provides 12 months of protection

Prevention Options for Cats

  • Bravecto Topical for Cats – Flea and tick protection lasting up to 3 months
  • Revolution Plus – Monthly topical prevention providing protection against heartworms, fleas, and ticks, as well as certain additional parasites

Not sure which prevention is right for your pet? Please feel free to discuss these options with any of our veterinary technicians or assistants. Our team is happy to answer your questions and help you find the prevention option that best fits your pet’s needs.

Remember: heartworm prevention and flea and tick prevention should continue year-round, and routine parasite testing remains an important part of preventative healthcare.

Staff Spotlight: Meet Dr. Brandy Wilcox – Veterinarian

This quarter, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Dr. Brandy Wilcox! Dr. Wilcox’s passion for veterinary medicine started
early – she has been working in the veterinary field since she was just 15 years old.

For Dr. Wilcox, becoming a veterinarian was about making a difference and giving animals a voice. One of her favorite parts
of veterinary medicine is forming the special bond that develops between the veterinarian, the client, and their pet.

“Your babies are my babies, and I truly empathize with every emotion you bring into this clinic involving your pet.”

Meet Her Crew

  • River – a Pit Bull Terrier mix who is quite the acrobat and loves to “talk.”
  • Rain – a Black Mouth Cur mix who loves soaking up the sunshine.
  • Cloud – a three-legged American White rabbit who knows tricks and even gives kisses!

Although Cloud might have something to say about it, Dr. Wilcox admits she is 100% a dog person.

Outside the Hospital

When she isn’t caring for patients, Dr. Wilcox enjoys hiking and spending time with her family and friends. She loves coffee, steak, mountain getaways, and dreams of visiting Switzerland. Her dream pet would be a panda bear, her favorite animal movie is A Dog’s Journey, and if her personality were a dog breed, she says she’d be a Golden Retriever.

For Dr. Wilcox, what makes Moreland special comes back to her team: “We are a family, and I truly appreciate the love and respect I receive from my team members.”

We’re so thankful to have Dr. Wilcox as part of our Moreland Animal Hospital family and for the compassion she brings to our patients and their families every day!

Fall Pet Safety Reminders

  • Keep Halloween candy – especially chocolate and sugar-free candy – away from pets.
  • Keep candy wrappers and other small items out of reach.
  • Be mindful of mushrooms and unfamiliar plants while your pet is exploring outdoors.
  • As daylight hours get shorter, use extra caution when walking pets near roads.
  • Don’t stop those preventatives just because the temperature drops!
